Beacon Lough Baptist Church Community Involvement
BLBC was set up in the heart of the community of Beacon Lough Estate to serve and be part of that community. This is still our commitment.
All of our activities are open to everyone, particularly people in the immediate area.
Wednesday 1.30pm-3.00pm Parents and Toddlers
Plenty of toys and books are on hand for tots to enjoy with their Grans, Mams, Dads or carers. If you or your toddler fancy breaking out of your usual routine and meeting with others like you, come along to this friendly group. Biscuits and tea or coffee for the grown-ups and juice for the kids is served. This group is run by 4-6 of our church members.
Thursday 12.20pm Friendship Meal
What better way to make friends than over a nice, home-style meal? A team of about 7 from our church prepare, cook and serve a delicious hot meal on the premises, followed by cake or biscuits and tea or coffee. There is plenty of opportunity for friendly talk, companionship and fun; or maybe you would just like to enjoy a good meal you did not have to prepare yourself or wash up after! (There is a charge of £2.25 for the meal).
Crusaders
This is a national Christian organisation for children whose aim is to show Jesus to today’s generation. The emphasis in our groups is on showing Jesus by the way we interact with the young people rather than formal preaching or teaching, but without disguising or compromising our Christian beliefs and attitudes.
Friday 7.30pm-9.00pm Senior Crusaders (Ages 11-16)
This group has about a dozen young people attending regularly, with many more joining in occasionally. This session begins with The God Spot: usually a discussion of an issue of relevance to today’s teenagers, leading into the Biblical perspective; and a light-hearted quiz or similar activity. After this, (from 8pm) the young people enjoy the various activities on offer: football or other games outdoors when weather permits, snooker, table-tennis, computer games (including Dance Mat), board games, or just chilling out listening to music. We also have a small collection of books which can be borrowed.
